Greek Lamb with Olive and Feta Chili

Kalamata olives melt into this Greek-American lamb chili, adding a briny, savory depth. Topped with crumbled feta and fresh mint, it's unlike any chili you've had.

Serving suggestions

Feta and mint aren't garnish, they're the point — the cool tang against the warm lamb is the whole idea.

Substitutions & tips

Warm pita or orzo alongside leans into the Greek theme. Ground beef works if lamb's unavailable, though you lose some richness. A squeeze of lemon brightens it further.

Ingredients
2 lbs ground lamb
1/2 cup Kalamata olives, pitted
2 oz feta cheese, crumbled
28 oz crushed tomatoes
1 can chickpeas
1 large onion
4 garlic cloves
2 tsp oregano
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1/2 cup red wine
Fresh mint
Steps
1
Brown ground lamb in a Dutch oven, drain fat
2
Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened
3
Add oregano, cinnamon, and cumin, stir 1 minute
4
Pour in red wine and reduce 3 minutes
5
Add crushed tomatoes and Kalamata olives
6
Simmer 45 minutes until thickened
7
Add chickpeas, simmer 15 more minutes, serve topped with feta and fresh mint
